Jurassic World: Dominion Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs

4. The Solid Cast Deserves Better
For as much as Dominion gets wrong, the ensemble cast is at least trying their damnedest to make it work, and they really shouldn't shoulder much or any of the blame.
Anyone excited to see the three O.G. cast members back - that is, everyone - should get a kick out of Jeff Goldblum cracking wise in peak Ian Malcolm form, while Sam Neill and Laura Dern slide back into their roles well.
As for the younger heroes, Bryce Dallas Howard acquits herself laudably as Claire even as she's continually left in pursuit of stronger material, and though Owen barely feels like much of a character this time, Chris Pratt bring his usual plucky Action Man persona to the fore.
In terms of new characters, the one major standout is DeWanda Wise, who steals several scenes as former Air Force pilot and reluctant dinosaur smuggler Kayla Watts.
Her spunky attitude and easy chemistry with Pratt make her a fun, inspired addition to the existing character set.
You have to feel for the cast as a whole: they're not given much to work with here, but they certainly try to do it justice.
