Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - 8 Reasons Why The Fans Should Be Worried

1. The Franchise's Track Record

History tells Jurassic Park fans they should be worried about how the upcoming sequel will pan out.

To date we've had four movies - only two of which are critically acclaimed - so on close scrutiny the franchise is a proverbial mixed bag.

The original Jurassic Park wowed fans and critics with its ground-breaking special effects, but the Lost World divided critics and so did Jurassic Park III while it underperformed at the global box office.

Jurassic World, as much as it is technically a sequel, marked a new beginning for the franchise and earned solid reviews - let's hope this isn't the beginning of an emerging pattern where an impressive debut is followed by two stinking sequels.

The speed at which Fallen Kingdom was shoved into development suggests Universal is eager to capitalise on the sense of dino mania it reawakened in Hollywood, but it remains to be seen whether this haste is evident in its production values.

Fallen Kingdom's first trailer has been tipped to debut at Comic-Con this month, so until then we can only sit tight and wait with anticipation, and a measure of trepidation.
