Justice League: 10 Recent Developments You Need To Know About
3. Cyborg Was Tuned Up During The Reshoots
Warner Bros is rumoured to have spent a shedload of money on Justice League reshoots, $25 million's worth, in fact.
Granted, reshoots are part and parcel of blockbuster filmmaking, but your typical movie has to undergo them to the tune of around $10 million, which should give you an idea of how much of the team-up film is being overhauled.
According to an IGN article, altering the tone of Ray Fisher's Cyborg was a key part of the additional filming. Apparently, the studio were keen to make Victor Stone a lighter character, as the original cut was deemed too gritty.
Joe Morton, who plays Cyborg’s father, Dr. Silas Stone, told the website...
"The stuff that I had to do were just really small little bits and pieces, nothing necessarily having to do with tone. I know that with Ray, the young man who plays Victor, there were some adjustments that they made in terms of the tone of that character."
Fisher also weighed in on the reshoots, describing them as "brief" and lavishing praise on Joss Whedon for his handling of them.
Zack Snyder previously described Cyborg as "the heart" of Justice League, so perhaps the extra scenes are to emphasise that and shift the focus away from the body horror aspects of the character.
