The Rumour: The early word on Justice League was that it would conclude with a cliffhanger ending, teasing the arrival of Darkseid for the Justice League sequel.

Even when Justice League was changed from a two-part movie to a standalone outing, rumours still persisted that the film's final sequence would be a cliffhanger, with Darkseid arriving on Earth, firmly setting the stage for a follow-up that could hit the ground running.

The Truth: Thankfully, this wasn't the case at all. Warner Bros. is clearly having enough trouble making a single good film, so they smartly didn't worry themselves with decisively setting the table for the next big tentpole.

Justice League does hint at plot threads for the various heroes' solo movies, but beyond a scant namedrop of Darkseid, the film avoids Batman v Superman's mistake of playing like an aggressive coming attractions reel for the next team-up movie.
