If you grew up watching Justice League Unlimited, a lot of these details may ring some bells, and for good reason.

In the third season of the series, during the episode titled “Far From Home”, we see a similar nefarious plot of the Fatal Five almost come to pass, as the Justice Legion feel compelled to transport several Leaguers to the future. Luckily, the villains are thwarted, but not every Leaguer makes it back to the present.

Considering this adventure seemingly took place in the same universe and timeline as the film, the League should be well prepared to take on their foes, right? Well, comparing the two stories, one element is curiously missing from the 2019 animated film - Supergirl.

Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Clark Kent, is an integral part of the episode “Far From Home”, which chronicles the League’s first encounter with both the Fatal Five and the Legion of Superheroes.

Where is Kara? Well in the end of the episode she agrees to stay in the future with Braniac-Five, which is the last time we see of her. Is her absence in the trailer a clue to how dangerous things have gotten in the 31st century? Has the Kryptonian hero failed her mission? One thing is for sure, the Girl of Steel and her whereabouts might just be the key to figuring out more to this story.
