Justice League Zack Snyder Cut: 10 Amazing Additions That Delivered Everything It Promised

7. Steppenwolf

Justice League Superman Henry Cavill
Warner Bros.

While the theatrical release of Justice League presented General Steppenwolf as just another bland CGI monster, the Snyder Cut took the time it needed to truly flesh out its main antagonist. His entire design was reworked and a not insignificant amount of time was spent learning about and understanding his character.

Through dialogue that actually feels genuine, we learn that Steppenwolf owes a debt to Darkseid and that is why he, and not Darkseid himself, is attacking the planet. Through multiple scenes of Steppenwolf communicating with other members of Darkseid's inner circle and even Darkseid himself, we see Steppenwolf as a character who desperately seeks to return to his master's good graces.

We also learn a fair amount more about what his plan to conquer the planet is, filling in the multiple plot holes and unanswered questions of the theatrical release. "This land is toxic. Good." he remarks as he chooses the location for his stronghold. With one line of dialogue we not only learn where the final battle will take place but why he chose it, as opposed to the seemingly random choice it was in the theatrical release.
