Earlier this month, it was reported that the shortlist to play Iris West in the upcoming The Flash movie was down to a shortlist of three names. Well, it's now down to just one, with Kiersey Clemons landing the gig.

As first revealed by Variety, Clemons has beat out other reported candidates Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton for the role of Iris, a hard-hitting journalist who is typically Barry Allen's girlfriend/wife, and also the aunt of Kid Flash Wally West.

For the actress it's a reunion with director Rick Famuyiwa, with the pair working together on Dope last year. Clemons won a number of plaudits for her performance, so it's not really all that surprising that she's got the role here, and seems a good fit for Iris.

The Flash, which has a script penned from previously attached director Seth Grahame-Smith (after a treatment from Phil Lord and Chris Miller), will star Ezra Miller in the titular role as the Barry Allen version of the Scarlet Speedster. After a brief cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we were given a better look at Miller in the recent Justice League teaser, and it's safe to say he's nailing the role.

The movie is expected to go into production later this year, with a probable 2018 release, and should bring a lot of lightness into the DC Extended Universe.
