King Kong Vs. Godzilla: 10 Reasons You Should Be Excited

1. It Could Be Just The Beginning

Really though, as exciting as the possibility of all this is, what matters most is the implications it has for the future. The giant monster genre has been dead for a very long time. Yes, Hollywood may churn one out every once and a while (usually variations of Godzilla or Kong), but the genre has never been as popular as it was in the 50€™s and 60€™s. That could all change should the next couple of films make a lot of money. And given the constant advancements in filmmaking technology and special effects, now is the perfect time for this resurgence. These characters can now be realized with a level of realism and personality never possible before, and on a greater scale. The 2014 Godzilla proved this; his persona leapt off the screen despite limited screen time. Imagine what could be done with characters like Kong, or Mothra, or any other monster new and old. Godzilla 2014 was a notorious tease, and if that tease is merely a sample of what is to come, then there is much to look forward to in the coming years. Kaiju films have been dormant from popular culture for far too long, but as the films themselves have proven, these characters are impossible to kill. Don€™t expect them to do down without a fight.
