King Richard Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

1. It's One Of The Year's Most Crowd-Pleasing Dramas

King Richard Will Smith
Warner Bros.

All things considered, King Richard will go down an absolute treat with both Oscar voters and general audiences who haven't had that many truly well-crafted feel-good movies to choose from this past year.

A good old-fashioned crowd-pleasing drama filled with great performances and stylish filmmaking is exactly what many are after right now, and though it's built from the standard parts, it's clearly still a film made great love and care for its subjects.

It's easy to take one look at the trailer and call it Oscar bait, but this film is sure to strike a chord far outside all the chatter about awards.

That the film is likely to connect with such a wide demographic of viewers will however only help its Oscar chances further, particularly for Smith.
