One of the things we do know about Kingsman: The Golden Circle, is that Mark Strong and Taron Egerton's characters will be travelling to America to team up with the Statesman. There, they'll meet a woman named Ginger played by Halle Berry and a “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” named Jack (whose casting has yet to be announced).

Which means Eggsy is going to need some sort of narrative foil. Throughout the first film, Eggsy battles against all odds to rise above his lower class upbringing, defending his mother against his abusive stepfather and then struggling to make it into the illustrious ranks of Kingsman. At the end of the first film, Eggsy has overcome all this, all but casting aside his "chav" aesthetic to become something of a “gentleman”.

Cue the “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy”. Of all the people we know are cast so far, this is probably going to be Jeff Bridges. It's likely Bridges will act as a foil to Eggsy, belittling him for abandoning his roots and drawing out in Eggsy feelings of guilt for no longer “being himself”. While technically being on the same side as Eggsy, the two personalities are likely to repeatedly clash, giving Taron Egerton something smaller and more personal to fight against alongside the larger narrative, just like in the first film.

This could even lead to physical conflict between the two during a particularly heated moment, or during an operation. Of course, in the end, Eggsy will actually be instrumental in helping this character to learn to let go of the past and grow and change as a person.
