13. The Sandwich Edit & Nixon

To give him his due credit, the director knows how to capture some stunning shots, and his framing work of King Kong himself - influenced by video games and anime as much as previous monster movies - is exceptionally good.

He's also clearly a fan of WTF stunt camera-work. At one point a stricken soldier falling into Kong's mouth is smash-edited to another guy eating a sandwich, and then one of the chopper crashes is seen only through an extreme close-up of a Richard Nixon bobble-head furiously bobbling.

They're both funny moments, but they come slap-bang in the middle of Kong's initial attack, and they're pretty bloody distracting.
