Kong: Skull Island Review - 6 Ups & 5 Downs
3. The Soundtrack Is Awesome
Though you can certainly argue that it ends up being a little on-the-nose, the movie's killer soundtrack helps evoke that distinct 1970s vibe. With classic tunes from the likes of Jefferson Airplane ("White Rabbit"), Black Sabbath ("Paranoid"), Creedence Clearwater Revival ("Bad Moon Rising") and David Bowie ("Ziggy Stardust") among others, the musical selections are anything but subtle yet no less enjoyable for it.
In fact, the use of these iconic songs is somewhat at the expense of Henry Jackman's score, which fades to the periphery and is largely forgettable by comparison.
