Another big cheat occurs when we learn the time ghosts want Ellie's help in murdering Collins. Led by Jack, they reveal their faces as they make their motivations known. However, these motivations don't hold much water when considering the ghosts as presented in the film could easily dispatch Collins on their own.

It's shown on multiple occasions that Jack and his company of faceless johns are quite capable of interacting with the material world. They not only restrain Ellie in the alleyway and in the bedsit toward the end, but they also interact with inanimate objects such as the phone they take off the hook just moments before making their appeal to Ellie.

The best excuse for their inaction would be if the ghosts were limited to the site of their death, a fairly common trope in horror films. However, we frequently see them inhabiting numerous locations outside the upstairs bedsit. They appear in the library, the alleyway during Ellie's run from the police, and several other sites throughout the film's runtime.

It qualifies as a cheat because not only do the ghosts not really need Ellie's assistance, but this particular motivation renders most of their previous actions utterly illogical. If you want to recruit someone to your murder cause, creeping them out and physically harassing them probably isn't the most effective way to earn their sympathies.
