The Last Of Us Movie: 12 Reasons An Adaptation Is A Horrible Idea
9. Creativity And Experimentation
One of the most enduring and most exhilarating aspects of any game is the ability of the player to be creative in his or her gameplay and to be able to experiment with different strategies. In The Last of Us, this emphasis on creativity and experimentation was once again on display. Who can forget the first time they completely bypassed a room full of trigger-happy humans without fighting a single one? Or how about the time you realised that a Molotov cocktail attracts clickers when thrown because of the sound and that it neutralises all that rush to site of the broken bottle? What about the time you lured a clicker into your nail bomb trap? How about the sheer awesomeness when realsing you could attach a shiv to an ax or a machete? The possibilities for new and effective fighting strategies are endless. Some of our most lasting memories of the gameplay in The Last of Us are a result of our own imaginations and resourcefulness. This emphasises the point of everyone have a unique experience playing this game. This type of player engagement and participation would undoubtedly be missing from a film adaptation. An adaptation would include someones creative thoughts, but they wouldnt be our own.
