Rating: ˜…˜…˜…˜… This mid-range set is everything you'd expect and everything you'd want from a LEGO movie tie-in set: the design is brilliant, highly detailed and narratively strong (as well as offering younger players scope to actually play with it) and it's a must-have for LEGO collectors. Arguably the strongest selling point is that it comes with an Owen mini-figure (the character played by Chris Pratt in the movie) alongside two of his tame raptors. Obviously there's some suggestion in this set and the other raptor themed set (Raptor Escape) that they aren't entirely tame, but that might be an element of creative licence for the sets that don't include the bigger threats. Indeed, the official synopsis states quite openly that the mobile vet unit is under attack from raptors Blue and Charlie, while Owen is attempting to lure them away. Alongside him, there's also an ACU trooper minifigure and Bryce Dallas Howard's character Claire, plus a host of accessories and tools. Both Claire and Owen are exclusives to this set, making it one of the most hotly anticipated (and the most likely to sell out quickest, presumably).

Your looking at a good solid couple of hours building: it's not incredibly difficult, but there's enough of a challenge in there to make it more than diverting. And the reward is pretty hard to resist. Combining this set with the cheaper Raptor Escape means you can complete the four dino raptor squad for less than the price of the highest priced set in the series. Inevitably, you're not really talking pocket change, but thanks to the detail and the stunning dinosaur models (which use the same molds as 2012€™s LEGO Dino sets) they're more than worth the value. Raptor Rampage is just one of the six excellent tie-in sets. As with all LEGO series, there's a good spread from affordable lower level sets like the Pteranodon Capture (RRP £19.99) and the Dilophosaurus Ambush (RRP £29.99) up to the high-end Indominus Rex Breakout (RRP £99.99). All are incredibly detailed and all offer a good build time and scope for imaginative play if you're not a collector who prefers sets to be statues.
