The Lego Movie: 10 Moments Of Geek Heaven

9. Green Lantern Loves Superman

This was a great little sub-plot running through the film. Channing Tatum is wonderful gruff and imposing as Superman. He's one of the biggest superheroes out there; comic book fans or not, everyone knows who he is. Green Lantern, on the other hand, might be good, but he doesn't quite share the same cosmic limelight as the son of Krypton. The Lego Movie plays on this theme brilliantly. Jonah Hill's Green Lantern wants to be Superman's best buddy. Superman doesn't want to know. Yet when they're captured during Bad Cop's attack on Cloud Cuckoo Land, Green Lantern is over the moon that he gets to share a prison cell next to the man he idolises. The actors of course have already played off each other in 21 Jump Street. The Lego Movie allows them to relive that dynamic with a great little sub plot of unrequited buddy love.
