The Lego Movie: 10 Moments Of Geek Heaven

4. Benny (AKA 1980-Something Space Guy)

One of the biggest themes running through The Lego Movie is nostalgia; we literally see our childhood played out on screen just as we did when Toy Story came around again a few years ago. We could all point out any number of the Lego sets and figures that were brought to life on screen and exclaim: "I used to have that!" In this movie, Benny the Space Man is the ultimate expression of that nostalgia. From the cracked rim on his helmet (that always happened, didn't it?) to the faded logo, Benny was exactly like the Lego Spaceman I had in my collection as a child. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who looked at this character and felt a warm sense of nostalgia flowing through my veins. Aw.
