Liev Schreiber opted to reprise the classic role once embodied by legendary screen actor Gregory Peck in the 2006 remake of The Omen, which we all know was bloody terrible in every way. Unfortunately, that terribleness extends to Schreiber's oddly tone deaf performance, which renders him as an oddity in an already very odd and ill-judged movie. As Damien's father, Robert Thorn, he offers up none of the exhausted gravity brought to the role by his predecessor; and it probably doesn't help that his wife, played by Julia Stiles, seems like she's in the wrong flick. When Gregory Peck played Robert Thorn, of course, he was mesmerising in every scene - his manic realisations powered the movie and made it terrifying, none of which is apparent in this weird copy. Schreiber phones in his performance, and almost appears retired to the fact that he won't make a lasting impression - strange, really, given that - even in his lesser roles - there's always usually a sense that this guy is trying his best. Maybe he was having a bad few months. It's one thing to remake The Omen, but to make it whilst on autopilot is blasphemy. Agree with this list? Let us know in the comments section below.
