Logan: 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

9. Who Exactly Was Zander Rice's Father?

The Question: In the film's climax, Zander Rice mentions that his father was part of the original Weapon X program, and Logan says that he probably killed him. If we assume that this is referring to the Wolverine cameo from X-Men: Apocalypse (not that it necessarily is), there's little indication of who, exactly, Rice's father is. Was he just a generic grunt or what?

The Likely Answer: You need to defer to the comics for the most probable answer here: Zander Rice's father was Dale Rice, who worked on Weapon X and was killed when Wolverine managed to escape his imprisonment. This heavily informs Zander's choice to become a doctor and attempt to recreate Weapon X.

There's not really any reason for the movie to give Zander a different father, but at the same time, it's never explicitly stated that the comic is gospel here (especially as this is a very, very loose adaptation of Old Man Logan).
