7. Laura Takes Heads

When Laura first appears, she isn't a great deal to look at: she wears that vague scent of a troubled child, certainly, but the genius of her casting is that Dafne Keen looks so unimposing. She's slightly lanky, obviously has nothing like the muscle mass of her adult clone and she has a wonderfully expressive face that sits first at disinterested innocence.

But then we discover exactly why she's classed as an article of such interest by Alkali Transigen when Donald Pierce makes the fundamental mistake of sending his most lumbering Reavers into Logan's house to deal with her. What they find is a little girl eating cereal with too little milk, and since they obviously missed all of the training information on her powers, they approach.

What follows is a brutal battle that isn't even seen on screen, but the foley artists did such masterful work that you feel every lump taken. And the crowning glory of the scene sees the little devil casually saunter outside to present Pierce with the head of his most fearsome looking grunt. What a way to make an opening statement.
