Logan: Every Major Character Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Caliban
Despite his traditional appearances in the comics as a morally complex character - and an outright villain at some points - Stephen Merchant's take on Caliban is a far softer creation, and an almost maternal influence on the other three main characters.
He plays his part almost comically - the archetype of a put-upon wife, washing Logan's clothes, tending to his wounds and feeding him and Charles - and the casting of the other-worldly Merchant is surprisingly perfect.
There's a layer of the character that possibly should have been explored a little more, as it's entirely implausible that this character would ever align himself with the bad guys, but he's still a very engaging presence, whose heroic sacrifice matters a lot. It's just a shame he wasn't allowed to kill off Pierce in revenge for the awful sun-burn sequence.
