Logan: Every Major Character Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Donald Pierce

Logan Boyd Holbrook Donald Pierce
Fox

Donald Pierce probably could have been an even better presence in the film if he was given a little more to do. As it is, he's muzzled somewhat by a strange desire for nobody to shoot and kill the mutant children who he's attempting to kill to clear up his mess of letting the go. He's also sidelined when Zander Rice and X-24 start to play more prominent roles in the latter half of the film.

But up until that point, Boyd Holbrook's loquacious Southern rascal is an entertaining part of the film: he boasts near narrative omnipotence (which is important for the claustrophobia Logan feels), and he delivers his menacing threats through a smile and a roguish charm that isn't wholly unlikeable.

He's almost like the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, even if it's a shame that he doesn't quite get to flex his muscles in combat. That being said, he does show flashes of outright malevolence - particularly when torturing Caliban - and he's definitely the film's more convincing organic villain.
