Logan Review: 9 Ups & 2 Downs

3. Dafne Keen Gives A Child Performance For The Ages

Logan Trailer Laura
20th Century Fox

Much of the film's success hinges on the character of Laura (aka X-23), played by young actress Dafne Keen.

Though she is largely mute throughout the film (save for some visceral screams during fight scenes), she gives an impressively physical performance and manages to convey a lot without speaking, which is no easy ask of an adult let alone a child.

Her murderous antics will inevitably cause her to be compared to Kick-A**' Hit Girl, but she stands on her own as an incredibly compelling, fully-developed character with a ton of potential for future movies.

But an X-23 movie should only happen if Keen agrees to come back, because she totally killed the part.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
