Logan Reviews: 11 Early Critical Reactions
8. It's The Goriest Superhero Movie To Date
"Seriously, there is so much blood." - Den of Geek
"Throats are torn out, skulls shattered and limbs sliced as Logan and Laura cut a bloody course through the American heartland." - IGN
While Logan's R-rating could've been an overzealous gimmick that resulted in far too much swearing and casual violence without any actual meaning or emotion behind it, it's now confirmed that this movie is no picnic, and does its more adult tone total justice.
The film's graphic violence has been a major talking point for reviewers so far, most commenting upon how while it's ferociously detailed and even occasionally over-the-top, it is sharply-executed and has a ton of visceral weight to it, not being as flippant as, say, the comical violence of Deadpool.
Though Logan has only a few R-rated comic book movies to contend with, the fact that it's being deemed bloodier than the likes of Watchmen, Blade, Punisher: War Zone, Sin City, Dredd and others is a very encouraging sign indeed.
