5. Earning The Hard R

Giving Logan an R rating so soon after the success of fellow anti-hero Deadpool seemed a lot like jumping on a blood-soaked band wagon. Chucking an R rating on something could easily become a new gimmick and be given to characters and franchises that have no need of it and even when the subject matter suits the rating, it is often not used to its full potential. Even Deadpool was a bit tame.

So far, Logan looks like it's earning that R rating. And with gusto.

If any character can use the violence card it's our man from Canada. His hands are knives for goodness sake, what could be more of a hint than that. The glimpses we see of Logan going all out are what the fans have been begging for for years. He slices, he dices, he impales people's heads and Wolverine fans everywhere let out a sadistic cheer.

The franchise so far has featured a mostly neutered Wolverine, but Logan looks to have given him his balls back.
