As evil as the insidious Palpatine was, perhaps he was right about the Jedi all along.

Remember that scene in Revenge of the Sith where the Emperor urges Anakin to take a “larger view of the Force” because the “dogmatic” Jedi code is restrictive?

If Luke now believes Forces users should tap into both sides of the spectrum, doesn't that suggest the villain was onto something?

Okay, so his intentions were to bring Anakin over to the Dark Side for his own despicable gain, but his point about Jedi dogma and restrictive ideologies still stands.

Let's face it, the Jedi were by no means perfect. Many of them had major superiority complexes and were bound by the kind of rigid ways of thinking that brought them to the brink of destruction on more than one occasion.
