Mad Max Fury Road: 5 Awesome Moments And 5 That Sucked

2. Ruled: Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa

Mad Max Fury Road Villain
Warner Bros. Pictures

You may have heard that Theron is the real star of this movie, and while that's not strictly true (it's very much a two-hander ) she is by far the best thing in it. Max has always been portrayed as a "man with no name" type, who gets embroiled in situations with people he winds up begrudgingly helping; the thing is, we've never met one of those characters quite like Imperator Furiosa, and she does kinda end up stealing some of Max's thunder(dome).

A ferocious Amazonian warrior one minute, a thoughtful protector the next, Furiousa really is the beating heart of this film, and Theron has never been better. Miller originally planned to shoot a solo adventure for Furiosa back-to-back with Fury Road, but that wasn't to be. Hopefully it's not the last we see of her though, because it would be a waste of one of the most intriguing, exciting characters - male or female - in modern cinema.
