Mad Max Fury Road: 5 Awesome Moments And 5 That Sucked

1. Sucked: No Mel Gibson

Mad Max Fury Road Villain
Warner Bros.

Mel ain't the most popular guy these days - and understandably so - but the fact remains he was brilliant as Max, and one of the main reasons for the previous movies' success, so it would have been great to have him back for Fury Road in some capacity. Recasting Max ultimately made the most sense, and a younger actor in the role means we get more movies after this, but surely they could have worked Gibson in there somewhere?

True, a "passing of the torch" type moment between he and Hardy probably wouldn't have been too subtle, but nothing else about this movie is so why the hell not. Gibson seems to have a good relationship with Miller so perhaps an appearance in a future Max adventure is a possibility, but not featuring him in this first film back feels like a major missed opportunity.
