Magneto Rises In X-Men: Days Of Future Past Photo!
The attention on X-Men: Days Of Future Past has been so firmly on the returning original cast members, that it's rather easy to forget that the likes of Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence will star in this sequel. Which is quite frankly a rather criminal omission, particularly in the case of Fassbender after his younger version of a tormented and vengeful Magneto was so strong, and we are doing him a disservice thinking of him as an after-thought to the likes of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman. Bryan Singer's latest tweet photo from the set of his currently shooting and ambitious superhero ensemble reminds us of Fassbender's awesome screen presence, as he is snapped filming a scene elevated in front of what looks like Charles Xavier's residency. You can see a full size version of this photo below; The image comes hot off the heels of two recent set photos, one of President Richard Nixon's oval office during a pivotal meeting, and another you can see below of Vietnam war protestors, both reminding us that this movie is set firmly in the 1970s. Based on the classic storyline from the early 1980s which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142, X-Men: First Class will follow Chris Claremont and John Brynes run that introduced the idea of alternate future for Marvels mutant ensemble. It followed the plot of Magnetos Brotherhood of Mutants attempting to kill Senator Kelly (which wouldnt really make sense given the events of the first X-Men movie but could easily be switched to Nixon), leading to a future where mutants are hunted down by Sentinels. Opening July 18th, 2014,the movie stars Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters and Boo Boo Stewart.
