7. Lily James' Charming Performance As Young Donna
Though Meryl Streep is barely in the movie, audiences are given a pretty damn appealing substitute, with the lovely Lily James playing young Donna in the film's plentiful flashback sequences.
James, best known for her roles in Cinderella and Baby Driver, may not bear much of a likeness to Streep, but that's easily forgiven given the fun-loving charm she effortlessly brings to the movie.
Effectively the film's new protagonist, and certainly getting more to do than previous lead Amanda Seyfried, James has a cracking singing voice to match her likeable personality, helping her mostly fill the void left by Streep's absence.
