Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again Review - 7 Ups & 3 Downs
5. The Excellent, Enthusiastic Supporting Cast
One of the main reasons this film is so successful is that you can tell the cast had a ton of fun making it, and that enjoyment transpires through to the audience.
It doesn't hurt that the movie's supporting cast is absolutely stacked with talent: in additional to all the returning cast, Jessica Keenan Wynn is eerily spot-on as a young version of Christine Baranski's character Tanya, Josh Dylan is charming and absurdly handsome as a younger version of Bill (Stellan SkarsgÄrd), Cher and Andy Garcia's pairing speaks for itself, and Omid Djalili also has a fun recurring cameo as a Greek customs officer.
Even the movie's smaller roles tend to bring some giddy added value to the overall production, and as basic as the script might be, there's never the feeling that the cast themselves are just phoning things in or going through the motions.
