7. Daddy no.1: Kevin Costner
Though rather inexplicably having a bit of a shattered reputation these days, Im a huge fan of Kevin Costner and his choice as Jonathon Kent, Clarks adopted father after he crashes down to earth, is a brilliant one. On top of this the trailer revealed interesting things about where this character will go, suggesting to Clark that maybe he should have let people die rather than reveal his abilities which is apparently inconsistent with the character portrayed in the comics. Although we have the first trailer voice over which gives the more expected voice over of him instilling duty, morals and importance on Clark. This, when compared with Daddy no.2 who we will get to later, looks to be the more emotional bond. Firstly in terms of screen time as Jonathon raises Clark, but also in how talks between these two seem to be about protecting Clark, something any father would wish for their child (Im guessing) and will help give this film a strong emotional edge at its centre. This is particularly resonant in the end of the second trailer where Clark echoes fears of Jonathons that people would reject him. Theirs will be, potentially, the strongest bond of the film. Both the casting choice and the direction its so far heading in promise it will be a fruitful one.
