Man Of Steel 2: 10 Ways To Make The Perfect Superman Sequel

7. A Brainy Villain

Man Of Steel 2
DC Comics

Pushing Luthor more into the background for the sequel will make way for something we haven't seen yet in a Superman movie: Brainiac. Created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino, Brainiac is a major Superman villain yet to have been done on the big screen. Please do not mention the bizarre version done in Superman 3 because it just doesn't count.

Brainiac has the smarts of Luthor and the strength of Zod and would prove to be a formidable force for Superman to tackle. Bringing back the alien threat similar to Man of Steel but showing a more mature Kal-El dealing with it would go a long way to showing some character growth, as well as gaining the trust of humanity in a more satisfying way than the sudden and unearned BVS ending.

Character building aside, Brainiac's blend of extra-terrestrial and android would allow Man Of Steel 2 to go wild with Giger-esque visuals perfect for the grim world of the DCEU creating a frightening villain that isn't a vapid CGI troll or Michael Shannon with a goatee.
