Man Of Steel 2: 10 Ways To Make The Perfect Superman Sequel

5. We Need More Clark

A Man of Steel sequel needs more Clark Kent, and it needs a Clark Kent that isn't just Superman with specs on. That is not to say we need a bumbling 'Christopher Reeves' style replica, far from it in fact. Clark needs to be an unassuming nobody who you wouldn't look twice at if he walked past you. The inherent awkwardness from this could bring in a minor element of comic relief without going overboard and would help to highlight the duality of the character that is sorely missing.

Clark is the human inside of the God, flaws and all, in many ways the person that Kal-El longs to be. Clark is a fantasy for Superman to live out. The idea of the God hiding amongst humans not because he has to, but because he wants to has such untapped depth and for a film claiming to be 'deconstructing superheroes' it is a travesty that this has been neglected.

Clark being dead at the end of Batman V Superman is not as big a deal as people seem to think and there is no doubt they will bring him back in some convoluted way. Perhaps he was trapped under some rubble? Maybe he was on a trip abroad or just went back to Kansas? Maybe he took a particularly long time in the toilet and everyone just kind of assumed death. Whatever brilliant explanation they concoct, Clark's inclusion must mean more than it has so far.
