4. Give It Some Separation
The shared universe has become the new cash-cow way to build a franchise and following Marvel the DCEU would have been stupid not to leap onto this particular bandwagon. The major advantage they have in coming second is being able to learn from their predecessor's mistakes. Marvel get a lot of love and so they should, but they are not perfect.
As the films become more and more intertwined it is becoming increasingly difficult to make films that stand alone. The last thing we want is more tedious two hour-plus introductions to new characters along the lines of Iron Man 2. The recent Doctor Strange has been received praise for being the most stand alone Marvel film in some time so being separate is clearly no bad thing.
A cameo from Batman or Wonder Woman at the film's end should be sufficient in placating the shared universe quota. Giving Man of Steel it's own identity is absolutely the best way forward.
