Man Of Steel 2: 7 Villains We Really Need To See

6. Mongul

Superman Man Of Steel Braniac
DC Comics

An intergalactic warrior with no prior ties to Krypton or Superman, Mongul would provide an unsympathetic villain for our hero to battle. A conqueror on the galactic stage, Mongul travels the galaxy looking for new planets to overthrow and enslave before finally destroying them. A psychopath of the highest order, he finds pleasure in gladiatorial battle and is one of the few villains bar Doomsday that can take the Man Of Steel on, one on one.

In the famed ‘For The Man Who Has Everything ‘ tale from Watchmen creators Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, it takes the combined might of The Trinity to defeat Mongul and during the process both Wonder Woman and Supes receive the beatings of their lives. On multiple occasions it has taken the entire Justice League to take the galactic dictator down and he eventually succeeds in driving Green Lantern insane after he wipes his city off of the face of the earth.

So yeah, Mongul provides the imposing physicality and simple motivations that the franchise may need to get back on its feet. No magic bullets or staged executions here.
