Man Of Steel 2: 7 Villains We Really Need To See

5. Metallo

Superman Man Of Steel Braniac
DC Comics

With Kryptonite being introduced in BvS, the stage is set perfectly for Metallo to make his big screen appearance. Heavily riffing off of Terminator imagery, John Corbyn is a sergeant in the military, serving under Sam Lane – Lois Lane’s father. After signing up to wear an experimental battle armour powered by Kryptonite, Corbyn agrees to aid in the battle against metahumans. In his first confrontation with Superman, a stray bullet ruptures the Kryptonite containment unit causing near fatal injuries to Corbyn. Unfortunately for him, Lexcorp saves him at the cost of forever being fused to the mineral that nearly took his life. Now more machine than man and powered by a Kryptonite heart, Metallo swears vengeance upon the Man Of Steel.

Although Metallo is normally portrayed as a character to be manipulated, his inclusion as a primary villain in a Man Of Steel sequel makes perfect sense – there are clearly elements of the government and military that don’t trust Superman (Amanda Waller anyone?) and the suspicion of meta humans seems to be a constant theme throughout the DCEU. It would make absolute sense to see the military designing weaponry to combat the rising meta-human threat.

Considering that he’s been romantically entangled with Lois Lane before and you have a real soap opera element amongst all the CGI and explosions. A Kryptonite-powered terminator that once had relations with Lois would cause even a Man of Steel to bend slightly – much to the benefit of moviegoers.
