Man Of Steel has arrived. With all its epic sci-fi goodness and emotional turmoil, internal conflict and absurd devastation, director Zack Snyder delivers a Superman film for a new generation. Gone are the days of your father's Superman, be it George Reeves or Christopher Reeve himself, and now we welcome Henry Cavill to the pantheon of great Superman actors. And the time has come for Man Of Steel to supplant all other Superman films as the iconic cinematic representation of Kal-El and Clark Kent, albeit for a new era. All of us must move forward from those Christopher Reeve era of Superman films and embrace the future of Superman in today's modern era cinema. We all love those Reeve films, especially the first two, and for many of us those films represented and ultimately defined our idea of Superman. Even Bryan Singer's 2006 Superman Returns was part tie-in and part homage to the Reeve era of Superman films. We must always embrace those memories, but we must also make room for change. It's now the end of June 2013, and Zack Snyder's Man of Steel has been released in theaters across the globe, somewhat surprisingly dividing critics and fans alike. While the majority of these critics find the new film to be filled with emotion but overstuffed with ridiculous action and destruction, there are many fans who feel that Man of Steel is not only the perfect Superman film, but THE one Superman film we have all been waiting our entire lives for; for myself, I fall into the latter category. And all the naysaying critics really must rethink their approach to this new film, rather than merely dismiss it like so many already have, having not been able to look beyond those classic Superman tales of old, and not move forward into the modern era with this new take on the Man of Steel.
