Man of Steel Review: 10 Reasons Why You Will Love This Film

9. Young Clark Kent

As the respective nine and thirteen-year-old versions of Clark Kent, Cooper Timberline and Dylan Sprayberry are a wonderful team. They do a lot of the legwork in making Clark a sympathetic character viewers can emotionally invest in. Both young actors perfectly capture the inherent loneliness that comes with being so different from all the other kids and having to hide one's true self. Sprayberry is a real standout; he is remarkably effective in conveying the wide range of emotions that come from learning his unearthly heritage. He is sad because he is alone, confused about who he is, and frustrated by having to hold back even when that means not doing what he knows is right. He perseveres, though, showing Clark Kent was not just born a Kryptonian; he was born a hero.
