Marvel: 12 MCU Theories That Make Appalling Sense
5. We're Heading Towards A House Of M Event
The Theory
Though there are no mutants in the MCU (and now we might know why), the film series is still heading towards a key X-Men comic book arc as part of a future cinematic arc. We're basically going to see Scarlet Witch lose her mind and will either completely change reality to protect herself, or will wipe out superpowers (rather than mutants as she did in the comic) when she realises they are the real problem with the Earth.
The Evidence
Everything we've been fed about Scarlet Witch suggests that we're headed towards a trigger event for her: she's already been established as a volatile, vulnerable wildcard not fully in control of her powers when she is emotionally unstable. We already know that there's a very good chance her lover Vision will be killed, and we already also know her powers could be far bigger than initially suspected (she's effectively an extension of the Infinity Stones, after all).
The flash-point of her being the reason the Infinity War ends (because she wipes everyone out rather than Thanos) would be a smart twist and it would also be the most logical progression of her story arc.
And as an added seed, the fact that her family were effectively killed by superheroes - and she herself killed multiple innocents accidentally - could very easily be used as her justification for changing reality.
