Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Best Female Villains

7. Raina

MCu Villains
ABC

Appeared In: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It's a sign of how far the show has come that it feels as though a decade has passed since Raina was on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ruth Negga was an always welcome sight throughout the first season as the slippery, mysterious figure working on the Centipede project for John "The Clairvoyant" Garrett, but it was in the second season that the character really got to shine.

Her self-serving nature and belief that she was meant for greatness led her to the fateful moment when she and Daisy - then still known as Skye, of course - underwent Terrigenesis, with Raina herself coming out of it with her appearance completely altered. Ashamed and angry about her fate, Raina was ready to die before Gordon brought her to Afterlife, where she finally found a sense of belonging and discovered that she had the ability of precognition.

Though she started off the show as a selfish, dangerous individual, Raina redeemed herself in the end when she realized what Jiaying was planning, going so far as to confront Jiaying despite knowing she'd be killed so that Daisy could see her mother for who she truly was. Raina's final act showed how much she had grown, allowing Jiaying's plans for war to be foiled in the long run, and it's a testament to how great of a presence she was on the show that her absence was felt long after she was gone.
