Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 New Villains To Watch Out For In 2017

Despite all the footage we've been gifted from James Gunn's upcoming sequel, it's pretty amazing that we're still relatively in the dark about exactly what the overarching plot of the film is. There are a handful of things that are clear - like Yondu ending up on the outs with the Ravagers and Peter finally coming face-to-face with his father, Ego - but how all the disparate pieces click into place has yet to be revealed, and that holds true for one of the film's biggest (known) villains: Ayesha.

Ultimately, we know this: Ayesha is the leader of the Sovereign, the gold-colored race we've seen numerous times that has hired the Guardians to defeat the Abilisk - that big, tentacled monster - in exchange for Nebula. Of course, such a transaction doesn't go over too smoothly, as Rocket's theft of batteries from the Sovereign leads Ayesha to see the Guardians as the enemy, going so far as to hire the Ravagers to hunt them down.

Beyond that, though, what the character's larger goals are - if she even has any - or if she's tied in any way to Ego remain to be seen. But with the film itself looking like it could very well effortlessly top the first go-round in all respects, hopefully Ayesha can stand out in the process for more than just her unique physical appearance.
