Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 New Villains To Watch Out For In 2017

After stealing the show in the second season of Daredevil, it came as zero surprise when it was announced that Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle would be getting his own series. With all eyes on Iron Fist and, of course, the long-awaited team-up of The Defenders, though, The Punisher's series has been flying under the radar for now, meaning much about the show's villain, Billy "Jigsaw" Russo, has remained under wraps.

The Punisher has gone up against numerous villains in the comics, but Jigsaw is the one who has remained his biggest nemesis. Thanks to Frank, Billy's face was destroyed - giving him the patchwork look that earned him the name Jigsaw - and ever since, the two have gone head to head, the character even having made the live-action leap to the big screen before in 2008's Punisher: War Zone.

In the MCU, though, Billy - played by Ben Barnes, who recently had a big role in the first season of Westworld - will start off the show as a longtime military friend of Frank's and owner of Anvil, a private military corporation, allowing Jigsaw's "birth" to go a number of different ways.

Whether he betrays Frank and gets his comeuppance or is simply caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time, Billy's emergence as Jigsaw will undoubtedly be a highlight of the series and give Frank even more dramatic material to work with as he plays a hand in turning his own friend into his bitterest enemy.
