Marvel Cinematic Universe: Definitive Guide To Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And Foreshadowing

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

4. Pulp Fiction Quote On Nick Fury's Tombstone

In a very quick shot of Nick Fury's grave you can make out his epitaph: "The path of the righteous man..." from Ezekiel 25:17. Of course, that isn't actually a Bible quote - it's from Pulp Fiction, where Samuel L. Jackson provides a career-defining rendition of the whole (fake) passage.

3. Hydra's Still Active (And Have Loki€™s Sceptre)

The mid-credits scene reveals that Hydra wasn't destroyed completely in the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., with cells still active around the globe. The stinger itself focuses on Baron Strucker, who's in possession of Loki's sceptre from The Avengers, reintroducing the Mind Stone and setting up the German Hydra leader as a secondary antagonist for Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

2. The Twins

The big part of the mid-credits scene, however, is the introduction of "The Twins". Described by Baron Strucker as miracles, this is Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, otherwise known as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who become enemies-cum-members of the Avengers in Age Of Ultron.

1. Bucky Realises The Truth

The post-credits scene sees Bucky visit the Smithsonian's Captain America exhibit and realise who he really is, beginning his foreshadowed turn towards the light. Like with Thor: The Dark World's, this is really just spelling out something set up in the film, but it does allow for some progression between now and Captain America: Civil War.
