7. Runaways: Season 2
The final two episodes of Runaways' first season helped kick off 2018 back in January, wrapping up a solid debut season for the gang of teens (and their dinosaur), and it's only fitting that their return helped close out the year, with season two picking up some time after the first season finale to catch us up with the group in their new life on the run, trying to get by while being hunted by their parents and the police force under Pride's influence.
Much of what makes Runaways work is simply being able to spend time with these characters, watching them come into their own, as each of the kids - and even their parents - have distinct personalities to the point that one fan's favorite may be another fan's least favorite (in a good way). It's as easy to root for them as it is easy to be torn on some of the parents, and the conflict with Jonah and the Pride came to a nice head in the stellar episode "Last Rites," which finally saw Jonah's plans nearly reach fruition before everyone was able to stop him.
However, Jonah's seeming defeat resulted in the second half of the season feeling a bit aimless in comparison until the season finale officially teed up an excellent cliffhanger for the show's future, though events like Molly's quinceaƱera and the arrival of Xavin along the way were enough to keep things engaging nonetheless. Overall, Runaways is just a charming series that, like Cloak & Dagger, may not be for everyone but deserves credit for having an abundance of personality and charm.
