Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every 2018 Project Ranked Worst To Best
8. Iron Fist: Season 2
It's not really controversial to say that the first season of Iron Fist was (and is) generally considered underwhelming, with critics snubbing Danny Rand's debut and many fans calling it disappointing at best, absolute garbage at worst, though some - this writer included - still found enough to enjoy with it. To say that a second season had an uphill battle to prove itself to fans and critics alike would be an understatement.
Fortunately, new showrunner Raven Metzner seemed to take much of the criticism to heart, with season two dropping from 13 episodes to a clean 10 and having a clearer goal in its conflict between Danny Rand and Davos with the Hand out of the picture. Characters like Colleen Wing and Ward Meachum continued to prove just how great of additions they have been to the MCU in their ability to outshine the titular hero, the fight sequences were much improved, and Alice Eve's debut as "Typhoid" Mary Walker was a highlight of the season.
Unfortunately, however, things like Davos' descent into single-minded madness deflated the season a bit, and the ultimate cancellation of the series - the first of Netflix's sweeping purge of all their Marvel shows - retroactively sucked the wind out of the sails of an otherwise slick ending involving Danny and Ward in Japan that promised a much zanier future for the world of Iron Fist, resulting in what may very well be a permanent lack of closure for a show that seemed to have finally found its way.
