Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every 2018 Project Ranked Worst To Best
4. Agents Of SHIELD: Season 5
When 2018 kicked off, the fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was already in full swing, our heroes in a future where the Earth had long since been destroyed and the rest of humanity was under the rule of the Kree at the Lighthouse. In time, they managed to defeat Kasius, as well as his deadly right hand Sinara, and returned home to the present to deal with new threats, namely the long-awaited arrival of Graviton.
Compared to past seasons, the fifth felt like a victim of budget constraints, as a lot of time was spent indoors on the same sets, and though the season as a whole might not stand up as the show's best to date, particularly following the stellar fourth season, it still remained engaging nonetheless thanks to the fact that these characters, whom we have spent more time with now than any other characters in the MCU, are great.
If anything, season five felt like a reward for longtime fans, whether it be in the marriage between Fitz and Simmons in the show's standout 100th episode or how things from all across the shows run, like the Centipede serum or Gravitonium, as well as characters like Deathlok, Creel, Robin, and even Daniel Whitehall, all come back into play in some form or another. And it all leads to an emotional finale that feels as much like the end of an era for the series as it does the beginning of something new and exciting, with the show's future brighter than ever with at least two more seasons on the horizon.
