Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every One-Shot & Webseries Ranked Worst To Best
4. Item 47
The third One-Shot dropped in September of 2012, picking up where The Avengers left off in order to introduce Lizzie Caplan's Claire and Jesse Bradford's Benjamin into the MCU. After retrieving and getting a Chitauri gun to work following the Battle of New York, the two opt to rob banks with it, only to draw the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., though they're ultimately welcomed into the organization rather than punished.
Though the two characters were never actually seen again - a disappointment considering Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would've been a good place to have the two cameo and unify the short film a bit more - Item 47 was a big step in the direction of widening the One-Shot concept's scope. We got to see how real people might react to what happened in The Avengers, as well as got insight into the type of cleanup work S.H.I.E.L.D. had to do on a day-to-day basis when they're not dealing with superheroes and world-ending events.
Even further, it introduced Titus Welliver's Agent Felix Blake, who went on to make a handful of appearances on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and gave Agent Sitwell more to do, his actions in the short - particularly his recruiting Benjamin to help reverse engineer Chitauri tech into advanced human weaponry - actually receiving new context when he was later revealed to be with HYDRA. It's a fun, engaging, and world-building short that continued to push the One-Shots into bigger territory.
