Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every 2015 Project From Worst To Best
4. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Season 3)
Laser-focused and firing on all cylinders, the third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has only continued stepping the game up from where its second season left off. Aside from continuing many of the bigger picture things, like the Inhuman situation, the formation of the Secret Warriors, and the ongoing struggle against HYDRA, much of what helped everything click in the first half of the season was its incredible focus on the characters and relationships fans have come to love. Whereas Daisy and the relationship with her parents fuelled much of the dramatic undercurrent of the second season's second half, the first half of season three dove headfirst into the FitzSimmons dynamic, using Simmons' unwilling journey to a new planet not only to introduce the team's biggest threat yet but to force the two to reassess their standing with the introduction of Will. Each had a number of standout scenes together and alone, with the exploration of Simmons' time on the planet gifting the series with one of its best episodes. Between all that, the show made sure to give everyone something weighty to do and be involved in, from May's relationship with a much-changed Andrew to Coulson's dive into vengeance to Mack even stepping up as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s new temporary Director. With its midseason finale, the game has changed once again, with Ward's death - finally! - only serving to open the door for something far worse (while keeping Brett Dalton on the show). In all respects, it's been a huge season for the series so far, and it only promises to get even bigger going forward.
