Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every 2015 Project From Worst To Best
3. Ant-Man
On the surface, Ant-Man had a lot going against it. The public departure of Edgar Wright from the project after years of development caused much concern across the Internet, while the very title itself seemed like it could potentially keep many in the mainstream away. On all fronts, Marvel had a tough sell, having to find a new director, launch a new franchise, and market a movie called Ant-Man to the public, with many naysayers pegging it as Marvel's first flop, just as they had the year earlier with Guardians of the Galaxy. And yet, Ant-Man delivered. Paul Rudd killed it as Scott Lang. The movie itself knew how to poke fun at its own concept without ever being ashamed of itself. The smaller scale was a breath of fresh air from the destroy-the-world plot of Age Of Ultron. We got Hank Pym, a tease of Janet, a trip to the Microverse, setup for Hope to become the Wasp, appearances by Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, and Falcon, and so much more, all without the film feeling as though it was juggling too much. It may not have been a massive hit like some of its predecessors - anyone who expected it to make Avengers numbers is insane - but it clearly resonated with critics and audiences alike, giving the MCU a new, amiable, everyman hero who's set to turn up in Civil War before he and the Wasp team up - hopefully between appearances in both parts of Infinity War - in 2018.
